  • Responsibilities

    We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Operations assistant who will be responsible for assisting in the coordination of transportation of shipments, steel production reporting, steel inventory processes, daily cycle count requirements, accounts payable, supply purchasing and other administrative duties to assist with manufacturing operations.

    Job Responsibilities & Requirements

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Coordinate transportation of shipments for truckload and less than truckload requirements.
    • Participate in inventory activities such as cycle counts and year-end inventory.
    • Perform data entry to support production operations, with steel reporting, steel inventory processes, accounts payable or other areas as needed.
    • Interface with manufacturing personnel, customer service, purchasing logistics, supervision, and customers on incoming order status, production planning, freight requirements, and shipping status.
    • Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency in performing daily work responsibilities along with detailed product and production knowledge and responsibilities.
    • Identify cost saving alternatives for plant supplies.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
    • Attendance at work during the regularly scheduled shift is an essential duty.  This includes, but is not limited to the ability to work overtime as required, to be present at work, arrive on time and be at the work station ready for work at the start of the shift.

    Required Experience

    • EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

      Associate's Degree; or 2-5 years related experience and/or training in shipping/receiving or related warehouse operations; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

      LANGUAGE SKILLS:

      Effectively communicate with co-workers and management regarding work and safety issues. Read and interpret documents such as sales orders, production schedules, shipping documents, etc. Write simple correspondence. Able to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other employees of the organization.

      MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

      Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Able to compute rates, ratios, percentages, and to draw/interpret graphs. 

      REASONING ABILITY:

      Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.

      COMPUTER SKILLS:

      Strong skills and knowledge of Internet Software and MS Software (Outlook, Word, Excel) and ERP/MRP systems.
