  • Responsibilities

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    • Reviews and underwrites all direct and indirect consumer loan applications ensuring compliance with Credit Union and regulatory guidelines. 
    • Thoroughly documents thought process when evaluating loan applications. 
    • Provides assistance and training to Indirect Funding staff. 
    • Assists in all areas of Consumer Lending as needed.

    SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIP:

    • Reports directly to the Loan Underwriting Supervisor.
    • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

    Required Skills

    SKILLS OR ABILITIES: 

    • Knowledge of regulatory guidelines.
    • Knowledge of the “Credit Union Direct Lending” (CUDL) program preferred.
    • Effective, professional written and verbal communication skills.
    • Excellent math, analytical and member service skills. 
    • Ability to deal with stressful situations with tact and diplomacy and resolve complex situations.
    • Ability to work in a fast pace environment and accurately complete assigned tasks within strict timeframes.
    • Ability to work in an environment of flexible and changing work schedules. 
    • Ability to work independently and motivated to achieve goals with minimal supervision.
    • Ability to interact with diverse groups of people including members, potential borrowers, Credit Union Staff and dealer personnel in a diplomatic manner.
    • Proven ability to meet production goals.

    Required Experience

    • Minimum of 2 years of loan underwriting.
    • Experience in a high volume lending center preferred.
    • Some exposure to an indirect lending environment.
