  • Responsibilities

    Job Description

    The Carpenter/Painter performs all assigned carpentry trade duties at CMI’s customer site located in Washington, DC.

    Key Job Functions

    • Responsible for framing, finish work, door and door hardware installation/repair, drywall/plaster installation and locking device work.
    • Installing boards and clamps for fire extinguishers, replacing slats in park benches, installing cabinets, safety grab rails, acoustic tile on ceilings and walls, acoustical suspended ceilings, performing lamination work, and installing signs
    • Repair/replace wood structures and hardware components, such as windows, shelves, doors, paneling, framework, flooring, interior and exterior trim, rough furniture, rafters, staircases, ramps, trusses, beams, and scaffolds
    • Cut, shape, erect, repair, assemble and maintain wood and non-wood items and structures which may include doors and door frames, room occupancy signage, structural joints, staircases, awnings, shades, cabinets, bookcases, sub-flooring, shelving, roofing, gutters, flashing, exterior ground level walls, window frames, windows, window hardware (locks, hinges and closures), interior ceilings, walls, trim, trusses, beams, rafters, masonry structures, tiling, sheet metal and trim
    • Other duties may include painting and/or staining of repaired surfaces
    • Painting of main structures, offices, laboratories, storage buildings (interior and exterior), and other structures in a manner so as not to show peeling, cracking, chipping, running or flaking
    • Prepare a specific painting schedule for interior and exterior walls, floors, fire hydrants, fences, signs, ceilings, piping, overheads and structures, etc.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • High School diploma
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience preferably within a federal facility
    • Strong knowledge of commercial and residential construction and remodeling trades, to include best practices, procedures, techniques, tools and equipment, materials, specifications, quality control, cost control, and safety.
    • Ability to effectively verbally communicate
    • Must be able to pass government background check
