JOB TITLE: Legal Assistant

REPORTS TO: Attorney
JOB SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE: Serves as assistant to trial attorney in preparing cases for trial. Will aid in all trial preparation needs for plaintiff, personal injury cases. This position requires the ability to work under minimal supervision. Must have knowledge of the Code of Civil Procedure, principles of spelling and grammar, and have the ability to meet deadlines under time constraints.
JOB DUTIES:
· Propound discovery
· Respond to discovery
· Notice depositions
· Calendaring
· Post jury fees
· Case Management Statements
· Site inspections
· Order medical reports
· Ability to read medical reports and determine injuries
· Prepare all trial documents including trial binders
· Bate stamping
· Designation of experts
· Expert discovery including scheduling expert depositions
· Coordinating trial testimony with attorney
· Keeping Clients informed of appointments
· Coordinating with Co-Counsel
· Working with Adjusters and Doctors

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: This position does not have any direct reports.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: This job operates in an office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. Our office is also dog-friendly!
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL
FUNCTIONS:
· Safely lift and carry objects weighing up to 25 pounds
· Heavy computer key board work
· Sitting for majority of 8 work day
POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK: This is a full-time position. Days of work are Monday through Friday; hours can start as early as 6:00 AM and continue as late as 2:30 PM, based on an eight hour day. Position may require extra work hours (overtime) and schedules may be modified according to our operational needs.
TRAVEL: This position requires some travel meet with clients to respond to discovery, attend site inspections, and court
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
· Computer skills: Proficient in MS Word desirable, Microsoft Outlook, Adobe, but willing to train
· Filing documents with court, bookmarking.
