JOB DESCRIPTION:
A Staff Accountant performs any and all of the following tasks in maintaining accurate accounting records including calculating, posting, reconciling, and verifying financial data received for the property. This position works with and supports the Corporate Accounting Manager to ensure a smooth operation of the accounting function for the property.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Provide support to the hotel properties as needed in researching transactions or providing information and reports as requested
Responsible for the reconciliation daily credit card transactions, logging, investigating, responding to and resolving all credit card variances and disputes or chargebacks
Handle Accounts Payable duties including invoice processing, obtaining the appropriate approvals, vendor inquiries and submission
Responsible for Intercompany Accounts Receivable invoicing, posting payments and follow up on past due billings or inquiries
Balance Sheet Reconciliation as requested
Prepares monthly bank account reconciliations on all property accounts
Retrieve and process all deposits in accordance with corporate policies
Keep management informed of any unusual operational or financial events and/or deviations of policies or procedures
Performs quarterly and semi-annual internal audit functions as assigned
Participates in month end closing process as directed
Any additional tasks that may be given by the Corporate Accounting Manager and Corporate Controller.

Must have a high school diploma or GED
Must be able to work with and understand financial information and data, including basic arithmetic functions
Previous Accounting experience in hotel/hospitality industry preferred
Must have proficient knowledge in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and Word
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently in a fast paced environment
Must have strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Must have full availability and be able to work days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:
Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information
Ability to communicate effectively with other departments to achieve common hotel goals
Ability to be self-directed in regard to time management
Ability to read, write and speak English (multi-lingual a plus).
Ability to understand, follow and give written and oral instructions.
Accountancy skills, ideally in a hospitality environment
IT knowledge, as transactions are usually done through computerized systems, electronic cash tills, etc.
Data processing skills, including spreadsheet packages
Analytical and communication skills
Unmatched attention to detail to prepare detailed financial information for senior management
Ability to work harmoniously with fellow employees and guests.
