    JOB TITLE: Executive Housekeeper

    DEPARTMENT: Housekeeping

    Reports to: Director of Rooms/General Manager/Managing Director

    ESSENTIAL PURPOSE: Oversees and coordinates daily operations of the housekeeping department to ensure highest standards for cleanliness, product quality, and guest service for the Resort.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES: The following reflects management’s definition of essential functions for this job but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned. Management may assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time due to reasonable accommodation or other reasons.

    Ensures that all areas of the hotel are properly cleaned and ready for guests’ arrival.

    Anticipates and assesses guests’ needs and responds in a courteous and professional manner.

    Interfaces with appropriate hotel staff/managers to receive information regarding housekeeping needs; ensures timely response requests.

    Attends or conducts daily pre-shift meetings.

    Reviews and monitor daily schedule to ensure enough coverage for that day.

    Maintain a clear and efficient communication and coordination with the Front Office and other departments of the hotel.

    To attract, motivate and retain staff. Provide leadership support and is readily accessible to staff.

    Conducts performance, salary reviews and progressive discipline.

    Interfaces with maintenance to repost/recommend maintenance or repair needs.

    Monitors and maintains proper inventory levels, submits purchase orders for supplies and equipment.

    Supervises and assists staff in housekeeping duties.

    Controls storage of lost and found items.

    Ensures housekeeping carts are well maintained. Refer and follow up on maintenance/equipment issues with Engineering.

    Delegate assignments and supervise all staff, house attendant, room attendants, lobby attendants, laundry attendants and office coordinators.

    Supervise and conduct daily detailed inspection of guest room, public area and, Heart of the House.

    Oversee work of contracted labor.

    Develops, implements, and maintains deep cleaning schedules.

    Develops, implements, and monitors department budget; managers expenses within approved budget constraints.

    Prepares accurate and timely reports as required.

    Hires, trains, supervises, motivates, and develops housekeeping staff; manages schedules and workflow.

    Assigns duties and monitors quality of work, assures staff conforms to organizational policies and procedures and safety regulations.

    Provides day to day guidance and oversight of subordinates, actively works to promote and recognize performance.

    Keeps up to date on overall activities of the team, identifying problem areas and taking corrective actions.

    Trains staff by following OSHA and hotel guidelines for the safe handling of all housekeeping chemicals and equipment.

    Manages operating expenses to minimize costs while still maintain excellent guest service.

    Leads the Executive and Management team effectively.

    Monthly forecast of operating staff and cost expenditures.

    QUALIFICATIONS: Four to five years’ experience as an executive housekeeper, assist. Executive housekeeper or Housekeeper manager. Demonstrated proficiency in supervising and motivating subordinates. Commitment to excellence and high standards. Ability to work with all levels of management. Proven ability to deal effectively with diversity of individuals at all organizational levels. Bilingual skills a plus.

    SKILLS AND APTITUDES: Detail oriented. Organized and efficient. Learns quickly. Safety-minded. High quality standards for production and service. Courteous and friendly manner. Good team player. Customer service focus.

    WORKING CONDITIONS: Spends approximately equal amounts of time in/outdoors. Bi-level structures. Extensive facility. Indoor: temperature-controlled, clean, and well-lighted offices, guest rooms, and public areas. Outdoors: May be exposed to weather conditions in uncovered areas. May work on wet concrete and uneven tile. Moderate exposure to hazardous substances and fumes. Possible exposure to blood-borne pathogens.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Stands and walks short to moderate distances through shift. Bends, stoops, and reaches to perform routine job tasks. Routinely required to handle and move objects weighing up to 50 lbs. over moderate distances. Often required to move objects weighing up to 250lbs. over short distances, using appropriate hand trucks and carts. Flexibility and good reflexes required, if needed to operate electric cart. Frequent use of stairs, daily.

    IMPACT OF DECISION: Decisions directly impact the hotel’s ability to provide guests with attractive, clean, and hygienic public areas. Poor decisions may result in guest dissatisfaction and loss of revenues, due to inefficient or improper work, unsafe work practices, or improperly handled customer service situations.

    JOB CLASSIFICATION: This position is classified as Exempt and, upon completion of the Introductory Period, the employee is eligible for the Employee Benefits outlined in the Employee Handbook.
