  • Responsibilities

    The primary purpose of this position is to assist Oklahoma Central Credit Union in living out our Brand Promise, “Your financial well-being is our reason for being”, by delivering outstanding service to both internal and external members. The Mortgage Loan Coordinator contributes to loan growth by assisting members explore various mortgage financing options, analyzing loan applications and making sound credit decisions based on mortgage lending policies.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Reviews and evaluates information on mortgage loan documents to determine if buyer, property, and loan conditions meet Credit Union and regulatory standards. Responsible for gathering loan application documents and requesting additional information if necessary. Recommends approval or denial of loan applications to VP of Lending. Establishes terms and conditions of an approved loan and reviews with member.
    • Advises the member of various product options offered by the credit union and aids in selecting the loan program that is appropriate for the member’s needs either meeting at a branch or over the phone. Provides loan estimates when required and/or requested
    • Assembles documents in loan file for underwriter to review for preapproval or prepares denial documentation when necessary
    • Evaluates acceptability of loan on secondary mortgage markets
    • Closes Fixed Home Equity and HELOC loans when necessary
    • Willingness to learn and take on challenge of new products with loans out-sourced
    • Conducts training classes for employees and homebuyer workshops
    • Markets the Credit Union's mortgage lending program to companies and individuals within the real estate community
    • Cross-sells other Credit Union services
    • Keeps informed of current trends in mortgage lending and market factors affecting mortgage lending
    • Performs other job related duties as assigned

    PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS:

    1. Utilize Retail Services, Lending Services and other department to meet key expectations of the job description.
    2. Maintain acceptable risk & internal control standards.
    3. Monitor, report and communicate to management on trends in operations and loan services as well as key operating issues.
    4. Working knowledge of FNMA/Freddie Mac underwriting guidelines. Knowledge of federal and state regulations, including RESPA, TILA, ECOA and HDMA requirements, loan documents, appraisals, surveys, title policies and homeowner’s insurance policies required.
    5. Understand and comply with all aspects of the Bank Secrecy Act and Anti-Money Laundering, the Patriot Act and the Office of Foreign Assets Control regulations as they relate to their position.

    Required Experience

    Three years to five years of similar or related experience.

    A two-year college degree or (2) Completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school or (3) Completion of a specialized and extensive in-house training or apprenticeship program.
