The successful applicant must be adept at working with multiple researchers from a range of disciplines, including urban ecology, geography, landscape and urban planning, biophysical science, and environmental educators.  Strong organizational, communication, and writing skills are also required for assistance in coordinating research, database management, and input from collaborators in the team. Team members are Joshua Ginsberg, Steward Pickett, Emma Rosi, and Shannon LaDeau at the Cary Institute, Timon McPhearson at the Cary Institute and the New School University, Mary Cadenasso at the University of California Davis, Peter Groffman at the Advanced Science Research Center of the City University of New York, and Morgan Grove at the USDA Forest Service. The applicant will also collaborate with other closely related research projects at the institution including the NSF Urban Resilience to Extreme Weather-related Events Sustainability Research Network (URExSRN.net) and the Baltimore Ecosystem Study LTER.  Applicants may contact Prof Timon McPhearson for further information.

Duration:  This position is full time and includes salary plus benefits. Start date is flexible but mid fall 2019 is preferred. Position will conclude April 30, 2020.

Location:  Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies, Millbrook, NY, or The New School University, New York City

Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree in data visualization, graphic or communication design, urban sociology, urban planning, ecology, geography, environmental science, or related social sciences. The applicant should have strong design skills and experience in data visualization, though experience in document analysis including related qualitative analysis skills are also preferred.  Internet research, strong organization skills and ability to work in teams are important, as well as familiarity with green infrastructure research, especially in urban environments.

This is a full time, exempt, benefitted position. All candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Finalist candidates must successfully complete a post-offer, pre-employment background check.
