    Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies is accepting applications for the position of Information Technology Assistant. This is a part-time position with a standard schedule of Monday-Thursday 9am-2pm (20 hours per week) with some flexibility. Under general supervision of the Manager of Information Technology, the Information Technology Assistant will provide hardware and software support for users, PC and Mac computers, peripherals, and network equipment. 

    Duties include:

    • Prioritize and resolve help desk calls.  Provide end user support for all aspects of personal computers, including hardware and software
    • Provide support for computer peripherals including but not limited to printers, scanners, and network equipment
    • Configure and audit user backups 
    • Assist users with data management (Excel, Access, etc.)
    • A/V setup and support for onsite and virtual meetings
    • Maintain lab computers and protected workstations
    • Manage accounts in Domain Controller, phone, and building access control systems
    • Perform other duties as assigned

    Successful candidates will possess an Associates degree in IT/IS/CS or 2 years experience in a related field.  Familiarity with Linux, server virtualization, SQL databases, and web content management systems is desirable, but not required.

    This is an hourly, non-exempt, non-benefitted position.
