Ecology Education Program Specialist
Cary Institute is accepting applications for an Ecology Education Program Specialist to bring Cary Institute science to secondary school students and educators and help advance the field of ecology education.
START DATE AND DURATION: This is a full time, long term position in the Cary Institute Education Program. Start date before the end of January, 2023, preferred, with a later start date possible.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinate the Mid-Hudson Young Environmental Scientists (MH-YES) Program for local high school students. This entails:
Coordinate the Hudson Data Jam competition. This entails:
Develop, promote and help lead professional development programs for regional teachers and other educators.
Develop and revise curriculum materials for middle and high school students and teachers, and disseminate and support implementation of these through programs and the website.
Assure alignment of programs and curriculum materials with national, state and district standards.
Contribute to research about ecology teaching and learning, helping collect and analyze data and write papers based on this work.
Connect Cary Institute science and education to local, regional and national communities of science and environmental education practitioners and researchers.
Help manage budgets and supervise seasonal personnel.
Help write grant proposals for programs as part of the Institute's education mission.
