    Framatome is seeking a Software Engineering Intern for our Mill Ridge Road office in Lynchburg, Virginia.

     

    IBN (NDE Services) Engineering is a multi-disciplinary engineering product development group developing advanced and custom remotely controlled, robotic manipulators and controllers for our nuclear utility customers to perform non-destructive examinations of components within the power plant. Under direct supervision the successful candidate will integrate into a multi-discipline team of engineers including mechanical, electrical, and software engineers. Activities range from new products to modification and maintenance of existing systems.

    • Possesses exceptional technical writing skills and mastery of the English language.
    • Will demonstrate adaptability to different development software/platforms, as introduced.
    • Thrives in an environment that is fast paced and very much “hands on”.
    • Will demonstrate the ability to work independently on projects.

     

     

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

    Participate in software development for various control systems, for projects ranging from small to large.

    Identify new applications and opportunities to improve existing processes

    Participate in all aspects of the software life cycle:

    • Development and implementation of technical requirements

    • Documentation

    • Development of user manuals

    • Perform acceptance testing in accordance with acceptance criteria

    • Support and test products

    • Researches and assesses best practices, proposing methods and improvements

    • Performs other related duties and tasks, as required

    Required Skills Required Experience

    ALL CANDIDATES MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS OPPORTUNITY: 

    • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering or Computer Science with at least four semesters completed by start of internship/co-op.
    • Candidate must have some experience in programming in a major programming langauge such as C, C++, or C#.
    • Strong academic performance.
    • Strong technical problem-solving skills.
    • Strong interpersonal skills

     

     

    THE FOLLOWING MAY BE USED TO DIFFERENTIATE CANDIDATES WHO APPLY FOR THIS POSITION:

    • Exposure to or experience in .NET programming.
    • Exposure to or experience in Visual Studio programming environment.
    • Exposure to or experience in database software.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Ability to work a retail schedule that includes nights, weekends and holidays.
    • Interior design or sales experience/knowledge a plus but not required.
    • Physically able to be on your feet and move throughout our showrooms over an 8-12 hour work day.
    • Ability to maintain emotional composure in a professional business setting with customers, peers and management.
    • Strong work ethic and dependability a must
    • General computer proficiency
