AEIC utilizes a quarterly hiring cohort system to align onboarding with HHSC/TMHP and Managed Care Organization (MCO) credentialing requirements.
Applications are reviewed during designated hiring quarters
Selection into a cohort does not guarantee immediate client assignment
Service delivery may begin at the end of the quarter once all credentialing and compliance steps are complete
This role is best suited for professionals who understand Medicaid timelines and can commit to a structured onboarding process.
Role Purpose
The Case Manager Doula role exists to support pregnant women and children enrolled in the C.A.R.E.S. Program by providing non-clinical case management, care coordination, and advocacy, while ensuring services are delivered in alignment with Texas Medicaid requirements and AEIC program standards.
This role is designed for doulas who can work independently, maintain documentation integrity, and serve as a trusted navigator for families.
Eligibility Requirements (HHSC-Aligned)
Applicants must meet one of the following pathways as determined by HHSC.
Pathway 1
Certified doula aligned with nationally recognized standards and:
Five (5) years of experience within the last seven (7) years
Attendance at three (3) births within the last seven (7) years
Three (3) professional letters of recommendation
Pathway 2
Certified doula aligned with nationally recognized standards and:
Attendance at three (3) births
Three (3) professional letters of recommendation
Training in the following core competencies:
Childbirth education
Lactation support (or CLC / IBCLC certification)
Non-medical comfort measures, prenatal and labor support
Recognition of chronic and acute perinatal health conditions
Cultural competency

Key Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive case management assessments for pregnant women and children enrolled in the C.A.R.E.S. Program
Develop and maintain individualized service plans aligned with client needs and program requirements
Provide care coordination and resource navigation related to healthcare, prenatal care, housing, transportation, food assistance, childcare, and community supports
Advocate on behalf of clients to reduce barriers to care and services
Provide culturally responsive education related to prenatal health, parenting supports, and community resources
Support clients experiencing pregnancy loss, miscarriage, or stillbirth through appropriate referrals and compassionate navigation
Maintain accurate, timely, and Medicaid-compliant documentation in AEIC’s electronic health record system
Collaborate with interdisciplinary partners and community agencies
Participate in required cohort onboarding, trainings, and quality improvement activities
Required Skills & Professional Expectations
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Professional communication and advocacy abilities
Knowledge of Texas Medicaid, CHIP, and community resource systems preferred
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic health records
Bilingual English/Spanish preferred (incentive available)
Additional Contracting Requirements
Contracting is contingent upon:
HHSC/TMHP approval
Credentialing with at least two (2) Managed Care Organizations
Professional liability insurance required
Valid driver’s license and auto insurance required
Willingness to travel within service area (up to 50%)
🔹 While awaiting credentialing approval, selected candidates may be eligible to participate in AEIC’s Lead Source Split Incentive Program, based on program guidelines.
