    Job Title: Housing Choice Voucher Case Manager

    Job Locations: Chesapeake, VA

    Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm

    Payrate: $24.26/Hr


    Under general supervision of the Director of HCV Programs, performs responsible technical and professional work in Housing Choice Voucher Program (HCV) Case Management. Work involves moderately difficult administrative duties and requires the use of independent judgement and initiative ensuring that HUD and HCV policies and regulations are met.


    • Processes interim and annual recertifications and initial move-ins for HCV participants.


    • Prepares HUD forms, reports, and tenant notices. Relays information to tenants concerning the programs and their operations. Reviews tenant/landlord lease before execution of the lease.


    • Maintains client files and computes rent calculations. Purges client files in compliance with HUD, state recordkeeping and FOIA requirements.


    • Coordinates the execution of HAP contracts between landlords and the Authority.


      • Performs daily data entry on recertifications, interims, incoming portables, and movers.

        1. Assists program participants with locating housing units, evaluating the suitability of the prospective units, and mediates lease negotiations when needed.


          1. Communicates with property owners concerning compliance with housing quality standards.

             

            Required

             

            • Thorough knowledge of HUD-established housing quality standards.


            • Considerable knowledge of building and grounds construction and maintenance.


            • Knowledge of regulations governing HCV activities.


            • Skill in recognizing and solving interpersonal problems concerning residents of HCV units.


            • Ability to perform mathematical computations with speed and accuracy.


            • Ability to maintain records and prepare reports and statements.


            • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.




            • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with employees, clients, and the public.

               

              Special Requirements


              • Possession of a valid Commonwealth of Virginia driver's license.


                • Must be bondable.

                  • Must pass a criminal background check.

                    • Must pass HCV certification exam within one (1) to two (2) years of appointment.
