Emrich International Probate Research Inc
Are you naturally curious and enjoy uncovering hidden details? Do you have an interest in genealogy, court research, or investigative work, and want to build a career in an international environment where initiative and learning are encouraged? If so, we invite you to consider joining Emrich International Probate Research Inc as a Case Reporter – Illinois.
About Us
We are a dynamic and expanding international company and the U.S.-based arm of the Erben-Ermittlung Emrich Group, a notable European probate research firm. Our mission is to locate unknown heirs and reunite them with their rightful inheritances in the U.S., Europe, and beyond.
Our work combines genealogy, legal research, and investigative analysis, and we collaborate closely across borders to solve complex probate cases.
The Role: Case Reporter – Illinois
As a Case Reporter – Illinois, you will support our Probate Research Team at the very beginning of the probate research process. You will identify probate cases that may involve unknown or missing heirs, gather and review relevant court filings, and conduct preliminary genealogical and estate-related research.
Your work provides the foundation for our Probate Researchers to reconstruct family trees, locate heirs, and manage cases through to resolution.
About the Role in the Team
You will work closely with experienced Probate Researchers in the U.S. and abroad, serving as an essential first point of analysis for Illinois-based cases. While your initial responsibilities focus on case identification and early-stage research, you will gain exposure to the full probate research lifecycle. With experience and demonstrated performance, this role offers a clear path toward advancement into a full Probate Researcher position with responsibility for managing your own cases.
What You’ll Do
Conduct on-site searches of probate case filings in the Cook County Circuit Court database at a courthouse location
Monitor and research online probate filings in other jurisdictions as needed
Perform initial genealogical research to determine whether a case is of interest
Collect and review available information to support a preliminary assessment of estate value
Compile, organize, and forward relevant filings and research findings to Probate Researchers
Track existing probate cases and retrieve court filings as important developments occur
What We’re Looking For
Entry-level experience or background as a process server, court clerk, or in research, skip tracing, genealogy, archival services, or a related field
Ability to read and interpret legal and genealogical documents, or willingness to learn
Strong digital literacy and comfort working with databases and online research tools
Self-motivation, reliability, and the ability to manage tasks and deadlines independently
Genuine interest in genealogy, investigative research, and probate-related work
