Job Description
Cash App is looking for a highly engaged attorney to play a key role in providing guidance on the legal, regulatory, and industry issues related to Cash App’s rapidly expanding payments and financial services activities. This is an exciting opportunity for a creative legal mind with a sense of adventure. As part of a growing and innovative company, your ideas and contributions will have an immediate impact. This is a full-time role, reporting to the Lead Regulatory Counsel.
You will:
Advise on the full range of financial legal, regulatory, and industry requirements applicable to payments, including state money transmitter laws, Regulation E, BSA/AML, card network rules, NACHA rules, CFPA, emerging payment systems, and other regimes
Establish and maintain company-wide compliance programs to support regulatory and industry requirements
Represent Square with regulators and external partners on regulatory matters
Identify, summarize, and analyze the impact of new and proposed applicable rules and regulations, and interface with state, local and national regulators, in partnership with our government relations team
Identify risk areas and develop systems, policies, and procedures to manage and mitigate them
Provide ideas and insights into how Square can work within the law to create amazing product experiences for our customers
Qualifications
You Have:
Minimum 7 years of relevant experience
Direct payments law experience and knowledge of money transmitter licensing and BSA/AML regulations
Experience engaging with state or federal regulators
Fluency in translating regulatory requirements and legal advice into actionable guidance for business and product teams
Sound and practical business judgment, intellectual creativity, and problem-solving skills
Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, and ability to advocate for a position while maintaining a collaborative and open-minded approach
The ability to meet deliverables on time and work in an evolving and growing environment that is prone to changes
