The Blue Bell Foundation for Cats offers loving and compassionate lifetime care for senior cats whose owners can no longer care for them. Our lifetime care program provides resident cats with healthcare and a home-like cage-free environment in our Laguna Canyon cottages. We operate in a similar way to an assisted living or skilled nursing facility. Our caregiving staff handles feeding, medication administration, and monitoring resident health. This position works alongside the Cat Caregiving team, cleaning staff and management.
The ideal candidate is a Veterinary Assistant or RVT with a minimum 3-5 years experience in a veterinary clinic/hospital, rescue or shelter setting. Salary $23-$28/hour depending on experience. We are open seven days a week, 365 days a year so weekend and holiday shifts may be required. Occasional overtime may also be required. Other job benefits include flexibility in working days and hours, paid vacation, and coverage of costs for continuing education to maintain RVT license (if applicable).
Cat Care Coordinator Job Responsibilities:
Schedule and take cats to veterinary appointments using your personal vehicle (approx. 2 mile round trip)
Create short and long term care plans for cats in coordination with veterinarians
Manage intake and socialization of new residents
Manage environmental enrichment for all residents
Monitor weights, blood pressures and lab results
Ensure cats receive monthly nail trims and ear cleanings
Grooming and eye cleaning as needed
Assess QOL for critical residents
Train Cat Caregiving staff
Cover Cat Caregiver shifts during their absence (includes feeding and administering oral/topical/subcutaneous medications to cats)
Order and stock cat food and medical supplies
Coordinate with cleaning staff
Interact with volunteers
Sort through physical donations
Light cleaning and laundry as needed to help maintain house cleanliness
Executing emergency/disaster plans if needed
Other tasks assigned by management and aligned with caring for the residents

Physical demands:
Physical demands associated with this position include frequent walking, sitting, standing, bending, stooping, crouching, squatting, and kneeling. Must be able to climb a step ladder at approximately three feet in height, and lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Fine manipulation skills are necessary to prepare and administer medications. Regular exposure to animal waste and cleaning chemicals. There is potential for exposure to zoonotic conditions.
