Process Engineering Manager

International health and nutrition company needs a process engineering manager in Salt Lake to support multiple operations. The position is unique, in that the person manages technical issues and personnel to effect process development, a pilot plant, evaluation of processes in-operations, lead improvement, etc.
(so – basically a specific field of chemical engineer/process chemist)
Position info
- All work is under pharma, GMP or similarly regulated environments
- Hands-on role working in and around the plant and pilot plant with operations, production engineering, quality, etc
- Significant work with customers to address issues
- Supervision of scientists and engineers to address a wide range of subjects and issues locally and remotely. Direct management of 2.
- Extensive work with on-site pilot plants to develop and optimize processes for existing in-plant processes and for new work and new customers.
- Scale-up, analysis, etc
- Able to work with batch and continuous processes in-plant
Requirements
- BS in Chemical Engineering; potentially Chemistry – but must be heavily process-oriented, not analytically oriented.
- 8+ years of process/ product development in the nutritional product, food ingredient or pharmaceutical industries or other cGMP regulated environments.
- 4+ years of supervisory experience
- Experience in a pilot or full-scale manufacturing facility as a process/ development engineer or process chemist.
- Previous experience with process development, scale up, commercialization and optimization.
- Able to develop new chemical processes and solve more complex technical issues.
- Willing and able to work in operating plants; willing and able to do some travel to other sites.
