We are seeking a dedicated professional to undertake a range of accounting and attestation tasks within a mid-sized firm. The ideal candidate will engage in a variety of financial statement preparations, including compiled and reviewed statements complete with footnote disclosures. This role demands proficiency in technical skills, adherence to professional standards, and a keen understanding of firm policies.
Responsibilities include:
- Executing comprehensive accounting tasks and attestation services under the supervision of senior staff.
- Crafting compiled and reviewed financial statements along with detailed footnote disclosures.
- Showcasing expertise in technical abilities, work quality, and adherence to professional and firm standards.
- Managing multiple phases of audit engagements, including initial planning, budget setting for both time and expenses, and monitoring performance relative to budgets.
- Handling complex financial reporting tasks, including those involving multiple locations or firms.
- Reviewing accounting engagements and preparing thorough work papers.
- Directing and guiding staff, as needed, in their assignments and preparation of work papers.
- Adhering to strict timelines while meeting client deadlines.
- Engaging in business development activities and contributing to the firm's growth by expanding services offered to clients.
- Weekly updating partners on project statuses.
- Completing additional reports, projects, and tasks as required.
Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, or a related field, with 3-5 years of public accounting experience.
- A CPA license is preferred but not mandatory.
- Demonstrated experience managing a growing portfolio of accounting engagements, showing a progression in complexity and scope.
- Familiarity with GAAP and Special Purpose Framework (SPF) financial statement preparation, including disclosures.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, QuickBooks, and familiarity with CCH ProSystem Tax and Engagement software is beneficial.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workloads effectively.
- Analytical skills to tackle complex accounting issues.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with clients, taxing authorities, partners, and peers.
- A commitment to confidentiality in all client and firm matters.
Working Conditions:
- This position may require in-town travel to client sites, meetings, and seminars, necessitating the use of a personal vehicle.
- Expectation of overtime work throughout the year as needed, potentially exceeding 50 hours per week, with compensation based on a total annual working hour expectation (including PTO, holidays, training, etc.).
