Job Summary:

The Corporate Controller is responsible for leading the accounting department. This position will appeal to experienced controllers who are highly motivated, enjoy working within multiple disciplines of the accounting profession and can meld being strategic while remaining hands-on.

The Corporate Controller reports to the CFO with responsibilities that include, but are not limited to, the internal financial controls of the company, financial reporting, tax compliance, and leading a team of accounting professionals. The Controller also collaborates with the Controller’s office of our overseas parent company.

Responsibilities of this Position:

• Oversees the operations of the accounting departments.
• Build, train, and mentor the accounting team.
• Design and monitor the company’s internal controls over financial reporting.
• Responsible for accurate and efficient period-end closing process.
• Prepare and analyze the monthly forecast and weekly recap reports.
• Prepare the annual and three-year budgets.
• Prepare and analyze legal-entity GAAP financial statements and assist parent-company with conversion to IFRS.
• Review and approve weekly payroll.
• Tax compliance including multi-jurisdictional income, sales, and property taxes.
• Manage and monitor cash flow and coordinate financing when necessary.
• Manage the audit.
• Work closely with and supporting the company President, CFO, and other department heads.
• Work closely with Controllers in Germany.
• Manage all the insurance and bond requirements.
• Manage information technology needs and coordinating with parent-company’s I.T. department.
• Leading communication with auditors effectively, understanding cash management and cost control, tax experience is important as well even though they have Tax Advisors).

Qualification and Requirements:

• Preferably 10+ years of experience at the Controller or Accounting Manager level and preferably partial as Sr. Level Controller.
• Experience in successfully leading a team of accounting professionals.
• Experience in a job costing environment, preferably in the heavy construction industries.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Suite is required, with extensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
• Thorough knowledge of U.S. GAAP, including the percentage of completion method of revenue recognition.
• Familiarity with IFRS is a plus.
• Experience with SAP Business One and its suite of products is preferred.
• Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities while working towards tight deadlines.
• Superior analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills are a must.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or related field required.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation strongly preferred.
• 5+ years of experience at the Controller or Accounting Manager level
