  • Responsibilities

    The Electrical Quality Inspector is responsible for ensuring that the electrical components and systems of the products meet the quality standards, project specifications, and are following relevant codes, standards, and regulations. The Electrical Quality Inspector performs inspections, tests, and audits of the electrical materials, equipment, and installations at various stages of the production process. The Electrical Quality Inspector also prepares reports, documents, and records of the inspection results and corrective actions.

    Essential Functions

    • Perform inspections of electrical systems, wiring, fixtures, devices, and equipment in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC), state and local codes, and other applicable standards.
    • Inspect and test electrical components and systems for defects, deviations, or non-conformities using various tools and instruments such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, meggers, etc.
    • Verify that the electrical materials, equipment, and installations comply with the drawings, specifications, codes, and standards.
    • Identify and report any quality issues or discrepancies to the supervisor or manager.
    • Initiate and follow up on corrective actions and preventive measures to resolve quality problems.
    • Maintain accurate and complete records of the inspection activities and results.
    • Communicate effectively with contractors, electricians, property owners, and other stakeholders regarding inspection results, code requirements, and corrective actions.
    • Provide technical assistance and guidance to contractors, electricians, and property owners on electrical code interpretation, installation methods, and troubleshooting techniques.
    • Follow safety rules and regulations and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.

    Competencies

    • Knowledge of the NEC, state and local electrical codes, and other relevant standards and regulations.
    • Knowledge of electrical principles, theories, and applications
    • Knowledge of quality standards, methods, and procedures
    • Skill in using various inspection tools and instruments.
    • Skill in reading and interpreting electrical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
    • Skill in writing clear and concise reports and documents.
    • Ability to read and interpret electrical plans, drawings, specifications, and manuals.
    • Ability to write clear and concise inspection reports, notices of violation, and other correspondence.
    • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences using oral and written communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
    • Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion in applying and enforcing electrical codes and regulations.
    • Ability to pay attention to details and accuracy.
    • Ability to solve problems and make decisions.
