    Job Description

    We are seeking an experienced IBM iSeries Systems Administrator to join our IT team. You will be responsible for the maintenance, administration, and support of our IBM iSeries servers and infrastructure. This includes managing multiple LPARs, PTFs, security, backup and recovery, system performance, and integration with Windows environments. You will document procedures, implement upgrades and patches, diagnose issues, and ensure high system availability. This role involves collaborating with stakeholders and providing excellent customer service. The ideal candidate is passionate about the iSeries platform, learns quickly, and can manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Administer and support IBM iSeries servers, LPARs, hardware, and software
    • Apply patches, upgrades, and updates
    • Setup and manage system security, user profiles, and access
    • Perform system backups, recovery, and disaster recovery planning
    • Monitor performance and ensure availability and integrity
    • Diagnose and troubleshoot OS and hardware problems
    • Integrate and maintain connections with Windows environments
    • Develop and document procedures and processes
    • Provide after-hours and weekend support when needed
    • Collaborate with IT team members on projects

    Required Experience/Skills

    • 5+ years administering iSeries systems
    • iSeries OS expertise (version 6.1 and up)
    • Applying PTFs and change management
    • Configuring Client Access, Navigator, and emulation
    • Knowledge of security, backup tools, and replication
    • Diagnosing connectivity issues
    • Documentation skills
    • Ability to prioritize and multi-task

    Nice-to-Haves

    • Insurance industry experience
    • Power Systems certification
    • VBScript or SQL knowledge

    Education

    Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field preferred
