    Job Description

    The IP Docketing Specialist plays a crucial role in accurately tracking and managing critical patent, trademark, and copyright prosecution deadlines and correspondence. This position ensures the timely and precise entry of data into the firm's cloud-based docketing system. The successful candidate will review and interpret complex legal documents, communicate with attorneys, and safeguard the integrity of the IP docketing process.

    This is an autonomous role that requires exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work independently under time pressure. The IP Docketing Specialist must exercise sound judgment while adhering to firm policies and practices. They will have the opportunity to impact the firm's service quality directly.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Enter and track critical patent, trademark, and copyright dates in the docketing system
    • Interpret official correspondence from patent offices and foreign associates
    • Prepare reports by searching and retrieving filing information as needed
    • Review team members' work for accuracy in docketing and data entry
    • Process documents received from patent offices and foreign associates
    • Manage IP records and docket entries with extreme care
    • Handle recurring tasks with a high degree of priority and attention to detail
    • Ensure all activities are completed in a timely, deadline-driven manner
    • Exercise independent judgment in applying firm policies and practices
    • Perform additional duties as assigned by the IP Support Manager

    Required Experience/Skills

    • Undergraduate degree
    • 5+ years of IP prosecution docketing experience, preferably at a law firm
    • Extensive experience with CPI or similar docketing systems
    • Advanced MS Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities
    • Strong independent work ethic and time management skills
    • Exceptional organizational skills and ability to prioritize
    • Keen attention to detail in reading and documenting complex legal materials
    • Ability to work autonomously under tight deadlines and multi-task

    Nice-to-Haves

    • Experience in a large, global IP law practice
    • Knowledge of patent and trademark prosecution processes
    • Proficiency in additional languages

    Education: Undergraduate degree required
