  • Responsibilities

    This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and growing catastrophe modeling team. The Catastrophe Modeler will work with advanced catastrophe risk models to perform a variety of analyses for the facilitation of catastrophe risk management and reinsurance placements. This position will be a client facing role, providing modeling results and presentations when necessary to give Lockton Re's clients the tools they need to manage their business. The role will work closely with other analytics teams within Lockton Re and will be responsible for helping set the strategic direction for cat-related content delivery.

    What You'll Do

    • Cleanse, model and analyze client exposure data within Verisk (AIR) and RMS modeling platforms inclusive of results validation and report compilation.

    • Assist in providing and communicating catastrophe loss and exposure estimates to clients in a timely manner.

    • Collaborate with other members of the team to support Lockton Re clients with a variety of different cat exposure analyses.

    • Obtain extensive knowledge of catastrophe risk models inclusive of how they work and how to interpret model output.

    • Foster collaboration across the wider Lockton Re Analytics team.

    Who You Are

    • Undergraduate degree, preferably in mathematics, statistics, or related quantitative field, with Atmospheric or Earth Sciences background a plus.

    • 0-2 years of relevant professional experience in an analytical role.

    • Competent skills in Microsoft Excel required. Experience with SQL preferred. Ability to use R or Python a plus.

    • Completes tasks and job functions on time while meeting or exceeding expectations; carries a trusted reputation for dependability, consistency, professionalism, and active communication.

    • Highly developed conceptual, analytical and innovative problem-solving skills.

    • Good verbal and written communication skills.

    • Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with other departments.

    • Ability to excel in a detail-oriented, deadline-driven environment.

    • Ability to complete continuing education requirements as needed.

    • Able to travel both domestic and international.
