  • Responsibilities

    Job Description

    Wage: $19/hr

    Duties Include :

    • Provide care for all incoming cattle, processed cattle, sick cattle, and sale cattle
    • All incoming, processed, sick, and sale cattle updated within the Computer System
    • Perform vaccinations, identification for cattle on incoming loads
    • Check all incoming cattle for health status, appropriate paperwork, headcount, etc.
    • Load cattle for sale and unload arriving cattle
    • All cattle will be sorted and moved according to home pen weight status
    • Coordinate sorts and movement with the office/feed crew
    • Communicate with Consulting Veterinarian on standard treatments, cattle health and processing regimens
    • Ensure adequate animal health product inventory for doctoring, processing, and keep
    • monthly inventory
    • Analyze trends in sickness/treatments and look for possible causes to prevent future issues
    • Ensure medical clearance and withdrawal times on all cattle being shipped
    • Make sure the barn for the sick area is cleaned daily for sanitation purposes
    • Perform regular maintenance of fences, waterers, and feeders to keep the facilities neat and orderly
    • Provide ideas for new and innovative ways to provide care for the cattle
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Education and Experience

    • Prefer a two year degree in Animal Science (Not Required)
    • Experience in Cattle Handling a Plus (BQA certified)
    • Demonstrated problem solving skills & team building
    • Good verbal & written communications skills
    • Be a positive, productive member to produce a great culture

    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

    • Demonstrate ability to build a high performance/engaged work environment
    • Effective use of key performance indicators in an feedlot environment to drive results
    • Demonstrate problem solving and decision making skills
    • Ability to develop standards, and measure results

    TOOLS & EQUIPMENT

    • Syringes, Cattle Handling Working Equipment, 4-wheelers, computer, and other vehicles/equipment to use to complete jobs.
