We are seeking a California-credentialed Education Specialist/Special Education Teacher who is energetic, experienced, and ready to start ASAP to fill a temporary SPED vacancy. Role duties entail delivery of academic instruction on a temporary basis at the elementary grade level in person in Oakland, CA. Your goal is to create a welcoming learning environment and provide students with the tools they need to reach their full potential. Responsibilities:
Follow lesson plans to provide intensive instruction to students with special needs and identified learning disabilities.
Utilize a variety of appropriate teaching techniques and methods to foster student engagement and learning.
Prepare any necessary individualized, modified lessons and/or curriculum for students to facilitate the learning of students on the caseload.
Track students’ progress and document students' special education records, both digital and physical, including IEP documents, progress reports, evaluations, parent signature pages, and other relevant documentation for the returning special education teacher.
Ensure all students are receiving services commensurate with their IEPs and making ongoing progress toward meeting goals as outlined in their IEPs.
Collaborate with general education colleagues to accommodate, differentiate, and modify student learning and materials to best meet the student's needs through co-teaching, push-in, pull-out, small groups, and one-to-one support, and provide meaningful inclusion. Support staff and teachers in implementing Special Education programs and services.
Qualifications:
REQUIRED: California Education Specialist Instruction Credential (CL-808CA) valid and active, issued by the CTC
Ability to provide direct services in person to students
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Understanding of child development principles and best practices in education and classroom management
Knowledge of classroom health, safety, and sanitation guidelines and ability to closely adhere to the guidelines
Strong technological skills
Complete assigned tasks without supervision
Communicate effectively at all organizational levels
Exercise good judgment in prioritizing tasks
