    AAC Specialists: We’re Hiring! Join our team as a School-Based Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) Specialist in Oakland and Palo Alto, CA!

    We are seeking a Full-time or Part-time Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) Specialist in-person (hybrid-work-from-home flexible) for a school-based assignment in Oakland and Palo Alto, CA, to join our team in assessing, consulting, and providing services to students with AAC needs in grades K through 8th.

    Responsibilities:

    Implement direct AAC service minutes and consultation for qualified students according to the IEP.

    Conduct comprehensive AAC assessments to determine the complex needs of individuals with communication challenges.

    Design and implement personalized AAC solutions, including but not limited to speech-generating devices, manual communication boards, and mobile communication apps.

    Provide training and ongoing support to clients, families, and educational teams on the use of AAC systems.

    Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure a holistic approach to each client's communication goals.

    AAC Specialists will support the learning of other educational professionals to build their capacity and confidence in collaborating on assessments and implementing AAC equipment in various educational settings.

    Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

    Qualifications:

    Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology with a valid and current California SLP license.

    AAC-related coursework/certification verifying AAC Specialist's designation and experience.

    Proven experience in AAC assessment and intervention.

    Strong understanding of motor learning and language development principles as they relate to AAC.

    Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

    Proficiency in the use of technology and AAC software.

    Ability to build rapport with staff.

    Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    Positive and collaborative demeanor.
