The Senior Accountant is responsible for oversight and efficiency of the general accounting functions. This position will oversee, implement, and maintain accounting systems, procedures, and policies; and ensure the accurate compilation, analysis and reporting of accounting data. The Senior Accountant will act as a liaison between the company, government, clients and CPA auditors in providing the required information and ensuring that proper information is maintained.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
Assign and audit the work of the accounting staff to develop, implement and/or maintain one or a combination of generally accepted accounting systems.
Oversee basic accounting procedures including A/R, A/P, time billing, P/R, G/L, tax payments and inventory control to ensure accuracy and effectiveness of work product.
Prepare and analyze financial reports of assets, liabilities, and other financial transitions.
Monitor and review all records of assets, liabilities and other financial transitions.
Manage and assist with all basic accounting procedures; financial statement preparation, month end closing; journal entries and general ledger maintenance, inventory roll forwards, fixed assets and margin analysis; supporting schedules for financial statements preparation.
Review, analyze and reconcile general ledger accounts and investment transactions in conjunction with preparing quarterly reports for leadership.
Perform analysis of operations on a monthly basis.
Managing financial statement preparation and month end quarterly closing.
Ensuring all active projects are covered by valid, binding contracts.
Assist with negotiations and maintain all lease agreements.
Perform analysis of operations on a monthly basis by submission of requested reports in a timely fashion.
Provide oversight for expense accounts.
Prepare and submit intercompany transfer billing.
Reconcile commissions.
Review employer payroll taxes for accurate submission processes.
Prepare year end 1099s and all work papers for CPA to complete tax returns
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required
At least five (5) or more experience in an exempt-level accounting/financial management role
Work Experience Requirements
Knowledge of company structure, workflow, and operating procedures
Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and Power Point is essential
