    Framatome is seeking a Testing Project Engineer for our Mill Ridge Road office in Lynchburg, Virginia. This role will report to the Manager of Nondestructive Evaluations (NDE) Engineering and work alongside a team of mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, and software engineers who design, build, test and deploy tooling and robotics to inspect nuclear reactor plant components at operating reactors around the country. This role will serve as the lead for testing programs within this larger engineering organization and will be responsible for ensuring that all equipment test programs are completed with high quality, on time, and within budget limits.

     

     

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

    • Plan ahead for logistics of upcoming test programs by reserving test facility space, identifying mockups and test equipment that will be needed, ensuring necessary equipment technicians and operators are scheduled to support the work, filling out job hazard assessment (JHA) paperwork, etc.
    • Write necessary test plans and test reports and ensure all required test conditions have been considered.
    • Serve as the lead for running the test program - create the test schedule, acquire necessary test equipment, ensure all personnel and equipment are on hand to perform the work, hold pre-job briefs for the team, be present leading all testing, and address any challenges that are encountered during testing.
    • Ensure test programs are executed with a particular focus on safety.
    • Interface regularly with the Purchasing Department, Assembly Shop, and Engineering organization to ensure that fabrications, procurements, and assembly are on track to support the testing schedule.
    • Provide regular status updates to the engineering management team.
    • Maintain organized records of test equipment, mockups, testing documentation, etc.

    Required Skills Required Experience

    ALL CANDIDATES MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS OPPORTUNITY:

    • BS in Eng'g/Eng'g Tech. plus a minimum of 7 years of engineering experience. An advanced degree may be substituted for related exp. (MS 1-2 yrs. or PhD 1-3 yrs.). In applicable states a PE license will be accepted in lieu of 4 yr engineering degree.

     

     

     

    THE FOLLOWING MAY BE USED TO DIFFERENTIATE CANDIDATES WHO APPLY FOR THIS POSITION:

     

    • Framatome LSS Black Belt certification preferred.
    • Previous experience leading teams of people across multiple disciplines
    • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
    • Organized and with attention to detail
    • Strong “hands on” work skills (assembly, equipment / tooling checkout and testing, etc.)
    • Ability and attitude to learn a variety of new procedures, processes, and tools, while maintaining various stages of production
    • Ability to work well in a fast-paced atmosphere
    • Proactive and self-motivated
    • Previous experience running assembly operations, test programs, and/or field work in industrial settings
