Job Description

This position (formally titles Independent Living Specialist) is designed to provide services and supports (non-medical) to individuals in Las Animas and Huerfano Counties in Colorado who have a disability and are seeking assistance in becoming more independent. The job entails working with the consumer who requests services which may span a broad spectrum. The Independent Living Specialist may provide service through peer support meetings, through provision of assistive technology devices, through assisting the consumer in advocating for services that person may need, or other modalities designed to bring about a successful result for the consumer. The individual that we are seeking for this position should have some post-high school college work, be proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite environment and be able to work in a one-person office. Since the office is located in Trinidad, Colorado it is also required that all applicants must live no more than 15 miles from Trinidad. Along with the listed compensation workers at the Center Toward Self-Reliance receive a monthly stipend in lieu of medical coverage, a generous time-off package and flexible scheduling (in accordance with supervisory guidance).
