  • Responsibilities

    Position Summary: Responsible for recruiting and organizing individuals in the CORE Center that are in Recovery and have prior criminal justice experience to participate in CORE Centers’ activities and events. Speak in public on behalf of the Center and advocate for the rights of people in Recovery. Requires evening and weekend hours, as determined by CCA/CORE Centers’ schedule.

    Direct Supervisor: Director Recovery Services

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Recruit individuals to become members/peer leaders of the CORE Center.
    • With the assistance of the Director/Assistant Director, along with other key recovery staff, develop outreach plan for locations and activities intended to recruit members.
    • Coordinate affiliation activities and recreational events with key project staff.
    • Recruit, train, and support CORE Center members to work on Community Outreach Projects.
    • Along with key project staff, ensure the accomplishment of goals, objectives and deliverables required by NYS OASAS/Monroe County for all CORE Center activities and services.
    • Coordinate and help with the facilitation of Peer Leadership Training Modules.
    • Attending community stakeholder meetings on behalf of the CORE Center as directed.
    • Assist peers in the delivery of Peer Recovery Support Services (PRSS)
    • Serve as a liaison with community groups interested in building Recovery Capital.
    • Offer presentations to community groups and testify at public hearings and community forums on issues related to the goals and objectives of the CORE Center.
    • Assist with project data collection and timely completion of program reports to funders. Maintain data as required and issue reports as requested.
    • Attending training programs, as assigned by Assistant Director/Director of Recovery Services.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by Assistant Director/Director of Recovery Services.

    Qualifications:

    • Personal experience with recovery (3 years or more of sustained recovery, i.e., lived experience) and/or criminal justice issues strongly preferred.
    • Prior community organizing, or related experience preferred.
    • Strong written and oral communication, peer supervisory skills.
    • Computer literacy (word processing, e-mail, internet research, data entry) required
    • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
    • Possess a valid NYS driver’s license, a reliable vehicle able to transport participants, and appropriate level of auto insurance as required by CCA. Bachelors’ degree preferred but work experience may substitute for academic qualifications.
