    We presently have an opportunity for a DIRECTOR, MERCHANDISING within our LICENSING & MERCHANDISING department. This position is responsible for the successful development and implementation of consumer product programs that enhance the PGA TOUR fan experience and drive incremental revenue.  Areas of focus include identifying retail opportunities, developing brand strategies, evaluating partners (i.e., manufacturers, vendors, distributors), creating sales, marketing, and merchandising plans, and tracking financial performance. 

     

     QUALIFIED CANDIDATES WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING: 

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion, Merchandising, Retail or similar discipline, MBA preferred
    • 10 years strong retail and/or brand building experience, preferably with a well-known consumer brand with at least 5-7 of supervisory experience
    • Successful track record of managing a team across multiple disciplines
    • Strong “team” player that is highly organized and self-motivated
    • Ability to multi-task and effectively make decisions
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel and PowerPoint

      

    RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES: 

    • Embrace and actively promote/develop the PGA TOUR retail brand strategy
    • Understand consumer demographics and psychographics, specifically as it relates to sports lifestyle
    • Monitor retail trends and recommend consumer product initiatives taking into account brand perception, product quality, price point, and distribution channel
    • Collaborate with multiple TOUR business units (e.g., Creative, Brand Marketing, Championship Management, Tournament Business Affairs, Legal)
    • Prepare budgets and analyze performance based on departmental KPI’s (e.g., gross margin, conversion %, average transaction)
    • Review/approve vendor and retailer agreements
    • Maintain strong vendor and retailer relationships and ensure that commitments are met/exceeded
    • Analyze operating and financial statements for profitability ratios
    • Update PGA TOUR leadership on program performance, new initiatives, and business threats
    • Coach, counsel, train, recruit and evaluate staff on an ongoing basis
    • Special projects or other duties as assigned
    • This position requires overnight travel outside the local area, an estimated 25-40 percent of travel is required.

    • Master’s degree in one of several related degrees listed below.
    • Also allowed, a Master’s degree in any field, plus 18 graduate credits in one of the related degrees listed below.
