International hotel brand seeks Bartender in the heart of what Money Magazine and Lonely Planet have recently dubbed "America's Coolest Neighborhood".
Lawrenceville is at the heart of Pittsburgh's renaissance and is known as haven and destination for artists, local shops, and the some of the most innovative restaurants on Pittsburgh's flourishing culinary scene.
The boutique hotel will house a new restaurant in timeless venue with a simple straightforward contemporary menu with an upscale wine program, a barista and wine retail shop, and a second restaurant/bar located on the rooftop featuring vibrant bar program with plates to share and focused on clean, simple, local ingredients.
The hotel brand caters to business and leisure travelers in cosmopolitan cities including Madrid and Barcelona in Spain; Paris, France; Lisbon, Portugal; Frankfurt and Berlin, Germany; Buenos Aires, Argentina; Sao Paulo, Brazil; Brisbane, Australia and New York City, U.S.
SUMMARY
Service guests, retrieve and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and meals to guests courteously and efficiently according to hotel and restaurant specifications. Service cocktails for servers at server station. Assist in the maintenance of the bar/restaurant area and equipment.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Follow alcohol safety procedures and policies to ensure a safe working environment
Honor all work-related requests made by a manager or supervisor which may or may not be outside of normal duties, to ensure guest satisfaction.
Check out with immediate supervisor before leaving the work area
Maintain complete knowledge of all menu items, liquor brands, beers, mixology recipes and non-alcoholic selections available
Maintain knowledge of the characteristics and description of every wine by the glass and major wines on the wine list
Maintain complete knowledge of designated glassware and garnishes for each drink
Maintain complete knowledge of and strictly abide by state liquor regulations, particularly those prohibiting service to minors, intoxicated persons or drunk driving
Maintain complete knowledge of table/seat numbers, proper table set-ups, room capacity, hours of operation, menus and price range
Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment; use equipment only as needed
Maintain complete knowledge and comply with all departmental policies and service procedures
Maintain complete knowledge of Micros and manual systems
Inspect cleanliness and condition of bar area and service areas; rectify any deficiencies
Legibly document orders when system is down and distribute orders to respective personnel for preparation of order
Anticipate guest needs, respond promptly and acknowledge guests even when busy
Maintain positive guest relations
Be familiar with all hotel services/features and local attractions/activities to respond accurately to any guest inquiry
Adhere to all cash handling and credit card policies/procedures
Use all chemicals in accordance with OSHA regulations and hotel requirements
REQUIREMENTS
Ability to understand guests’ service needs
Ability to access and input information into Micros system
Ability to be well organized, maintain concentration and think clearly when providing service to guests within any given period.
Ability to exercise good judgement in determining potentially intoxicated guests
Ability to maintain good coordination while serving orders quickly
Ability to exert physical effort in transporting trays and wine buckets from service areas to guests
Ability to endure abundant physical movements in servicing guests throughout the work areas
Ability to perform job functions with minimal supervision
Ability to work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team
DESIRABLE:
Prior guest relations training
Prior sales experience
PROFILE OF QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of 1-year experience as a bartender
Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English with guests, management and co-workers to their understanding
Ability to provide legible communication
Ability to compute basic mathematical calculations
Experience in bartending, handling cash and Micros efficiency
DESIRABLE:
Certification in alcohol awareness program
Certification of previous training in liquor, wine and food service
