What we need...

Ceres Global is looking for someone who has a strong desire to learn, improve their skillset, and be a part of a high performing team. This position reports to the Financial Controller (team of 5) and serves all legal entities of the company. This hands-on position is responsible for all aspects of Ceres’ accounting function, including month end close, preparing and reporting internal financial statements, and completing other accounting and general business projects as needed.

Work Type: Hybrid; 3 days in office, 2 remote

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and maintain general ledger reconciliations for assigned accounts.
• Prepare and enter monthly journal entries within the timelines established in the monthly close calendar.
• Prepare daily/monthly journal entries. Reviews account activity prior to the close of month end to ensure the accuracy of financial data and reasonableness of balance sheet accounts.
• Assist in the month-end close process and prepare monthly compliance statements.
• Assist in the preparation of the quarterly and annual financial documents to be filed with the Toronto Stock Exchange.
• Assist with compiling requested quarterly and year-end auditor and tax requests including completion of reconciliation, roll forward schedules and preparation of work papers as assigned.
• Record and reconcile intercompany transactions.
• Assist in the implementation of new accounting guidance.
• Work cross-functionally with operations team to answer questions regarding the operating expenses of the company.
• Assist with documentation of key controls process.
• Perform other duties as assigned and or requested.

Qualifications:

• Required
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
  • At least one year of professional experience in accounting or finance.
  • Knowledge of US GAAP, internal controls, and exposure to IFRS.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize diverse tasks.
• Preferred * CPA license preferred but not required. * Exposure to foreign currency transactions is preferred.
