    Job Summary

    Under the supervision of a licensed professional (such as an LCADC-CCS), the CADC / CADC Internship evaluates, counsels, and case-manages adults with Substance Use Disorders and co-occurring mental health disorders

    Responsibilities :

    CADC:

    Clinical Assessments: Conduct standardized intake evaluations, including the Addiction Severity Index (ASI), and determine levels of care using ASAM criteria.

    Treatment Planning: Collaborate with clients to create individualized, person-centered, and recovery-oriented treatment plans.

    Counseling: Facilitate individual, group, and family therapy sessions using evidence-based practices like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT).

    Case Management: Coordinate care with external entities (e.g., criminal justice systems, probation, housing) and make community referrals.

    Documentation: Maintain accurate, timely clinical records in Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems, frequently using the New Jersey Substance Abuse Monitoring System (NJSAMS).

    Qualifications:

    New Jersey CADC credential in good standing.

    Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, or a related field (frequently preferred).

    Strong knowledge of SUD, the DSM-5, and 12-step or recovery principles.

    CADC Internship:

    Shadowing & Assisting: Assist senior counselors in conducting preliminary interviews and orientation sessions for new clients. Group Facilitation: Co-facilitate or lead psycho-educational classes and support groups under supervision. Caseload Support: Manage a reduced caseload or support senior staff in daily client monitoring. Core Functions Training: Receive ongoing training in screening, crisis intervention, referral, and consultation. Record Keeping: Learn and execute proper clinical charting, progress note-taking, and documentation of client histories.

    Qualifications:

    High School Diploma (Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred). Enrolled in, or recently completed, an approved ADC/CADC educational curriculum. Registered with the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs as a CADC Intern
