RICAR Business Consulting LLC (RBC) is seeking experienced Certified Diagnostic Radiologic Technologists to support the Department of Veterans Affairs at Northport VA Medical Center (VAMC) in Northport, NY. This role provides critical diagnostic imaging services to Veterans in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Job Description Summary
As a Certified Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist, you will perform diagnostic imaging procedures, including CT, X-ray, and MRI scans, to support patient diagnosis and treatment. This position plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of care for Veterans by ensuring accurate imaging and adhering to the highest standards of safety and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic imaging exams (CT, X-ray, MRI) in accordance with VA protocols and ARRT standards.
- Prepare patients for imaging procedures, explaining processes and providing reassurance.
- Position patients and operate equipment to obtain optimal diagnostic images.
- Apply radiation safety measures and infection control practices.
- Administer and prepare contrast media as required.
- Monitor patients for physical or emotional changes during procedures, escalating concerns promptly.
- Evaluate image quality and take corrective action when necessary.
- Maintain accurate patient records in the VA electronic health record system (CPRS/VISTA Imaging).
- Participate in quality assurance, safety compliance, and continuous improvement activities.
- Respond to emergent imaging needs and provide coverage across shifts, weekends, and federal holidays.
- Collaborate with radiologists, physicians, and healthcare staff to ensure seamless patient care.
Required Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist in CT/X-ray/MRI settings.
- Demonstrated expertise in advanced imaging techniques, including cross-sectional anatomy and 3D reconstruction.
- Proficiency with Computed Tomography (CT) Scanners (64/320 slice), cardiac CT, interventional/CT procedures, and general radiography.
- Experience with PACS, digital radiography (CR/DR), fluoroscopy, portable imaging, and sterile techniques.
- Strong knowledge of IV contrast agents, radiation safety, and dose monitoring.
Education & Certifications
Required
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Radiologic Technology or related field.
- Active ARRT certification in Radiography (R).
- Advanced ARRT certification in CT.
- Valid, unrestricted state license to practice Radiologic Technology.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Preferred
- ARRT certification in MRI (MR).
- Additional specialty certifications (DEXA, Mammography, etc.).

- Full-Time, rotating shifts (days, evenings, nights).
- Coverage includes weekends and federal holidays.
- Standard shifts:
- Day: 8:00 am – 4:30 pm
- Evening: 3:30 pm – Midnight
- Night: 11:30 pm – 8:00 am
- Occasional overtime as approved.
Compensation Range
- Salary: $102,000 – $118,000 annually (based on experience and certifications).
- Paid bi-weekly.
