We are currently seeking a Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) to lead our dietary team and ensure nutritional excellence for our residents.
Position Summary:
The Certified Dietary Manager will oversee all aspects of dietary services, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and that all Veterans receive meals that meet their nutritional needs. This position plays a vital role in supporting the health and well-being of our residents through safe, sanitary, and high-quality food service.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan, organize, and direct dietary department operations in accordance with current federal, state, and local regulations
Supervise, schedule, and train dietary staff to ensure quality service
Ensure that resident meals are nutritious, appealing, and tailored to medical/dietary needs
Monitor kitchen sanitation, food handling, and storage procedures in compliance with ServSafe standards
Collaborate with interdisciplinary care teams and Registered Dietitian Nutritionists to support individualized nutrition plans
Maintain accurate records for inventory, dietary preferences, and staff training
Manage dietary budget and control costs while maintaining quality
Required Qualifications:
Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) certification (active and in good standing)
ServSafe Certification (current and valid)
Minimum of a high school diploma or GED
At least 1–2 years of experience in a supervisory food service role in a long-term care or healthcare setting
Strong leadership and communication skills
Knowledge of nutrition, dietary regulations, and safe food practices (especially in Veteran-focused or government-regulated facilities)
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with care planning, and dietary documentation standards
Knowledge of special diets for common Veteran health concerns (e.g., diabetes, heart disease, renal issues)
Experience with dietary software systems
