Busy practice is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant. Knowledge in both Rheumatology and Internal Medicine is a plus. This position will be a floater between the clinical department and requires flexibility to meet daily staffing needs. Must be a team player with great customer service skills.
Greets patients in a courteous, professional manner and escorts patients into the exam rooms Properly measures and records vital signs in electronic health record and according to treatment protocols Properly documents and verifies all prescriptions and dosing as well as any allergies to medications Properly schedules patients and all patients when needed according to policy and procedures Properly documents all required screening protocols based on the age of the patient Properly documents Social and Past Medical as well as Surgical History Properly documents and verifies all other allergies and reactions Refills prescriptions within 24 hours of request Properly responds to patient questions via phone, secure messages, etc. within 48 hours of receipt and documents all communications within electronic health record Correctly completes needed forms for prior authorizations for DME, prescriptions, etc. and submits them in a timely manner Performs and assists with various tests in exam room (EKG, ultrasound) Initiates referrals to specialists when needed Stays current with the required CEUs to maintain license Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations Communicates to physician any patient concerns/ongoing care Offers to help / assist coworkers as needed Accepts work assignments and is flexible when short staffed Communicates to Supervisor any needs or areas of concern in a timely manner
Requirements: Certified Medical Assistant High School Graduate Knowledge of organizational policies, procedures, and systems. Skill in operating a variety of office equipment. Knowledge of Practice Management System and Electronic Health Record. Excellent grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Knowledge of OSHA and HIPAA. Good Hygiene. Basic knowledge of concepts such as inventory control. Ability to get along well with patients, coworkers, physicians, and management.
