Pay
• Base hourly pay $22 to $26
• Per diem, as needed shifts

Schedule
• Day shift 0730 to 2000
• Night shift 1930 to 0800
• Weekdays, weekends, and holidays
• 12 hour shifts for inpatient psych
• On call and off duty hours required based on facility needs

Contract Term
• Base year with four option years
• Long term federal contract

Position Overview
You support inpatient Med Surg and Inpatient Psychiatry units. You deliver direct patient care under RN supervision. You work as part of the care team. You follow VA policies and safety standards.

Key Duties
• Provide basic nursing care with minimal RN oversight
• Take and document vital signs and blood sugars
• Report abnormal findings to RN immediately
• Assist with patient hygiene, feeding, mobility, and transfers
• Support patients receiving oxygen, suction, catheters, and isolation care
• Perform EKGs as requested
• Assist with diagnostic and emergency procedures
• Collect, label, and transport specimens
• Escort and transport patients
• Provide 1 to 1 patient safety observation as needed
• Support admissions, inventories, and contraband checks
• Document care accurately in patient records
• Maintain equipment and report repair needs

Experience Requirements
• Current CNA certification from any US state
• AHA BLS required
• CPR certified
• Two years direct patient care experience within the last three years
• At least one year recent experience in Med Surg, Long Term Care, Nursing Home, or Inpatient Psychiatry
• Must have worked within the last six months

Uniform
• Royal blue scrubs and name badge required
• OR and sterile processing exceptions apply
