_The anticipated pay range for candidates who will work in California is _$45.00 to $50.00 hourly _. We are looking for a Full-Time Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant, flexible day shift .
Responsibilities:
- Implements and executes on established patient treatment plan under the supervision of a therapist.
- Provides timely written documentation per facility and department requirements to meet licensing, certification, regulatory, reimbursement requirements, and physician treatment plan.
- Communicates with patients, families, and other clinical staff about treatment variations.
- Observes, monitors, and reports patient progress, functional abilities, and tolerance to occupational therapy interventions to the supervising therapist to support appropriate modification of the treatment plan.
- Assists in implementing therapeutic activities designed to improve activities of daily living (ADLs), instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs), cognitive function, coordination, strength, and independence.
- Reinforces patient and family education as directed by the supervising occupational therapist regarding adaptive techniques, safety strategies, and use of assistive devices.
- Assists patients with training in self-care activities including dressing, grooming, toileting, bathing, feeding, and functional mobility in accordance with the established treatment plan.
- Ensures therapy interventions are delivered safely and in accordance with physician orders, occupational therapy plans of care, and regulatory standards.
- Maintains awareness of patient precautions, contraindications, and safety considerations prior to initiating therapy interventions.
- Assists in training patients in the use of adaptive equipment, orthotics, splints, or assistive devices as directed by the supervising occupational therapist.
- Assists with fabrication, adjustment, and monitoring of splints or adaptive equipment as directed by the supervising therapist.
- Reinforces therapeutic exercise programs, fine motor activities, coordination training, and cognitive stimulation interventions as outlined in the treatment plan.
- Ensures therapy treatment areas and equipment are maintained in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
- Assists in preparing and maintaining therapy equipment and treatment supplies necessary to support therapy services.
- Assists supervising therapist in gathering clinical information necessary for therapy progress reports, recertifications, and discharge planning.
- Monitors therapy schedules and patient attendance to ensure therapy services are delivered as ordered.
- Maintains productivity and service delivery standards established by the rehabilitation department and facility.
- Direct the preparation, scheduling, and selection of instructional material, equipment, and training aids, to ensure that a modern, meaningful in-service program is provided.
- Prepares and submits patient charges accurately to provide appropriate billing information.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a skilled nursing facility as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant.
- Graduate of an approved Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) curriculum.
- Licensure as an Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) from the California Board of Occupational Therapy and a
- Current/active Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) license.
- Current and active CPR/1st Aid (to be maintained as active and in good standing).
- Must possess a working knowledge of Medicare and other payor sources.
- Bachelor’s degree in biology, psychology, sociology, kinesiology, or health science preferred, but not necessary.
