Job Summary
Cherished Hearts Private Home Care, LLC is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Certified Peer Specialist (CPS) to join our Mental Health Care Support team. This role is designed for individuals with lived experience in recovery from mental health and/or substance use challenges, who are now ready to guide and support others on their journey. The CPS will provide person-centered support, facilitate peer groups, and promote wellness, self-advocacy, and recovery in both individual and group settings.
Key Responsibilities
Offer peer support services through structured and unstructured interactions with individuals receiving mental health support.
Facilitate recovery-based group activities focused on wellness, self-determination, coping skills, and community integration.
Provide encouragement, share lived experience in a recovery-focused, supportive way.
Assist participants in identifying personal goals and navigating support systems.
Work collaboratively with clinical and non-clinical staff as part of an interdisciplinary team.
Document services accurately and timely in accordance with program and Medicaid standards.
Attend regular supervision and ongoing training as required.
Required Qualifications
Current Certified Peer Specialist (CPS) certification in the state of Georgia.
Lived experience with a mental health or substance use diagnosis, with at least 12 months of continuous recovery.
High School Diploma or GED.
Strong communication, active listening, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to model recovery values such as hope, empathy, empowerment, and self-determination.
Must pass a background check and have reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in community-based behavioral health settings.
Knowledge of WRAP (Wellness Recovery Action Plan), Whole Health Action Management, or other peer-led recovery models.
Familiarity with documentation in Medicaid-billable service models.
Schedule
Flexible hours – including daytime and occasional early evening sessions.
May include some travel to client homes or community locations.
