    Job Overview:

    AIMS Locum Tenens is seeking experienced Certified Phlebotomy Technicians to support patient care and laboratory operations at Kimbrough Ambulatory Care Center (KACC) Fort George G. Meade, MD. These professionals will collect and prepare blood specimens, ensuring patient safety and accurate labeling, while maintaining strict infection control protocols. As part of a military healthcare team, you'll work under standing orders and Joint Commission (JC) guidelines, ensuring proper documentation, specimen handling, and record-keeping in an outpatient clinical setting.

    General Duties:

    Provide services within the scope of privileges granted by the MTF Director.

    Perform duties in accordance with the basic contract and outlined responsibilities.

    Uphold the ethical and legal standards of healthcare.

    Serve as an integral part of a military clinical team, participating in customer service and readiness initiatives as needed.

    Specific Duties:

    Specimen Collection & Labeling: Identify patients correctly and draw blood using appropriate technique based on patient age and condition.

    Infection Control: Maintain sanitary conditions to prevent disease transmission.

    Sample Preparation: Ensure all specimens are prepared and sent to the proper testing locations.

    Record Maintenance: Accurately update patient records and test logs in the medical system.

    Lab Compliance: Adhere to standard MTF protocols and Joint Commission regulations.

    Readiness & Training: Participate in unit-specific training and competency verifications.

    Team Support: Participate in meetings, committees, and quality improvement initiatives.

    Qualifications:

    Degree: Certificate of completion from an accredited Phlebotomy training program.

    Education: Graduate from a phlebotomy program that includes both didactic and hands-on instruction. High school diploma or equivalent required.

    Certification (Required):

    Certification from one of the following:

    American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP)

    American Medical Technologists (AMT)

    Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) recognized certification

    Current Basic Life Support (BLS)

    Experience: Minimum of 2 years of phlebotomy experience.

    Licensure/Registration: As required by national certifying bodies and in accordance with Task Order.

    Skills and Abilities:

    Ability to communicate effectively in English (reading, writing, speaking).

    Proficiency with basic computer systems, data entry, and medical records software.

    Strong attention to detail, especially in specimen handling and documentation.

    Knowledge of age-appropriate collection techniques.

    Familiarity with infection control and safety standards.

    Schedule: Day shift, no call or weekends expected.
