About the Role
Medworks is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) to support surgical procedures across hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers in the Tidewater, VA area.
This is a mobile role that requires regular travel between local healthcare facilities. The Surgical Technologist works alongside clinical teams to prepare operating rooms, maintain sterile technique, and assist during procedures to ensure safe, efficient patient care.
Responsibilities
Pre-Operative
- Prepare operating rooms with sterile instruments, supplies, and equipment
- Ensure proper setup based on scheduled procedures
Intra-Operative
- Maintain a sterile field and follow aseptic technique standards
- Anticipate the surgeon's needs and pass instruments efficiently
- Operate and monitor specialty surgical equipment, including lasers
- Support surgical teams to promote efficiency and patient safety
Post-Operative
- Assist with room turnover, cleaning, and restocking
- Complete required documentation and track equipment usage accurately
Required Qualifications
- Active Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential (NBSTSA or equivalent accredited organization)
- Knowledge of surgical procedures, instrumentation, and sterile technique
- Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
Preferred Qualifications
- 1+ year of surgical technologist experience
- Experience in urology, gynecology, or general surgery
Schedule & Travel
- Monday–Friday schedule based on surgical case volume
- Occasional early start times and extended days
- Participation in an on-call rotation as needed
- Frequent travel between Williamsburg-area facilities
- Periodic travel outside the local area may be required
- Reliable transportation required
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary Range: $80,000 - $88,000
