    Job Description

    SUMMARY:

    The individual in the role of Coating technician will be responsible for cleaning, thin film coatings, glass fabrication processing, in-process inspection, metrology and product handling and packaging.

    The mandate is to build and maintain efficient production by achieving a desired job throughput and equipment utilization by focusing on yield and continuous process improvement, on-time delivery to internal and external customers, work space organization, safety and compliance with CEVIANS Quality policies.  It is an opportunity to join a dynamic team of recognized talent.  You will collaborate with QA, planning, manufacturing, engineering, and procurement groups.

    JOB DUTIES:

    • Setup and operate thin film coating equipment
    • Use spectrophotometer to measure spectral performance of thin film coatings
    • Perform visual inspection of optical surfaces before and after coating
    • Make Pass/Fail disposition of thin film coatings by comparing to product requirements
    • Proactively communicate process and/or equipment issues to Management/Engineers
    • Perform basic preventive maintenance tasks on cleaning, blasting, dicing, and coating equipment
    • Clean and maintains coating systems and other equipment
    • Document operational parameters of production equipment
    • Responsibility for executing daily tasks per instruction
    • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • High School diploma or equivalent

    • Hands-on mechanical abilities (comfortable around tools and equipment) 

    • Ability to work independently

    • Excellent communication / Documentation skills with fluency in compositional and conversational English

    • Excellent attention to detail

    • Follow and execute detailed written procedures

    • Proficient in use of Microsoft Excel and Word

    • PREFERRED EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION

    • Experience in a manufacturing environment

    • Experience with optical coating technologies a plus

    • Working knowledge of cleanroom protocol(s)

    • Working knowledge of optic and/or semiconductor cleaning processes a plus

    • Work effectively without direct supervision

    • Ability to read and interpret manufacturing drawings and written specifications

    • Perform mathematical calculations using formulas, conversions, and ratios

    • Ability to multitask

    • WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    • Ability to stand and walk 8-10 hours a day

    • Exposure to chemicals, solvents, and coating materials

    • Use of safety glasses, and latex gloves required

    • Facemask/respirator may be required

    • Ability to lift and/or carry at least 20-30 lbs.

    • Working in clean room environment / PPE

    Hours are 5;30 am - 2:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
