Job Description

SUMMARY:

Manage human and material resources for the planning, procurement and manufacturing of avionics and industrial ruggedized display products. The manufacturing manager is responsible to manufacture products on time and on budget in a high mix low volume environment. The team includes buyer, planner, material coordinator, electro-mechanical assemblers, optical bonders, inspectors, test technicians and manufacturing engineers. 

JOB DUTIES:

 ·        Insure that production planning activities will satisfy contractual obligations

·        Provide leadership to procurement team and insure targets are achieved

·        Review and insure production capacity in terms of human resources and equipment is adequate

·        Define human resources need, define roles, hire new talent and manage performance

·        Review production activities as required and execution mitigation plan to insure on-time and quality objectives are achieved

·        Make decisions about equipment use, maintenance, modification and procurement

·        Work out and implement standard operating procedures for production operations

·        Ensure that standard operating procedures are adhered to

·        Ensure implementation and adherence to health and safety procedures

·        Set product quality standards

·        Monitor quality standards of products

·        Implement and enforce quality control and tracking programs to meet quality objectives

·        Analyze production and quality control to detect and correct problems

·        Determine and implement improvements to the production process

·        Prepare and maintain production reports

·        Estimate production costs

·        Set and manage production budgets

·        Implement cost control programs

·        Insure that manufacturing engineers provide adequate technical support to the floor and that productivity improvements are continuously generated

·        Lead the team to integrate best lean manufacturing practices

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

·        Bachelor’s degree - in engineering, industrial technology

·        Minimum 5 years of  experience in production and manufacturing leadership role, direct management role

·        Knowledge of AS9100 quality systems and standards a definite advantage

·        Experience in an environment where there is development of large number of new products

·        Knowledge of health and safety standards and compliance

·        Proven experience with lean manufacturing techniques or Six-sigma

·        Solid computer skills
