    Job Description

    SUMMARY:

    The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for defining requirements and performing detailed design activities related to avionics and defense display assemblies. The work consists of reviewing customer needs and translating them into detail product requirements. It includes defining the product structure, performing engineering analysis and calculation, material selections, developing manufacturing strategy. The design engineer will perform all 3D modeling and also perform detailed dimensioning of product components. The mechanical engineer will work on opto-electronic mechanical assemblies that are complex. This position requires the application of extensive and broad technical experience and full knowledge of other related disciplines.  The mechanical engineer works with a team of scientists and manufacturing engineers to ensure product will meet all requirements. The position requires detail orientation, communication skills and ability to multi-task. The mechanical engineer is also involved at the early stage of new product definition and support marketing and sales inquiries in an engineering capacity.

    JOB DUTIES:

    •   Design electro-mechanical assemblies including mechanical structures, optical components and packaging of various electro-mechanical components including CCA.

    •   Review and select materials based on established requirements

    •   Perform tolerance analysis, mechanical stress calculation and thermal expansion

    •   Present design in details and support design decisions

    •   Produce detail drawings for manufacturing and assembly

    •   Document engineering information, BOM, routings as needed

    •   Responsible to document and complete engineering change order

    •   Monitor new materials and technologies in order to continuously improve product performance

    •   Develop design guidelines to reduce design cycle

    •   Support manufacturing by addressing technical issues on the floor that are related to design

    •   Respond to corrective actions and non-conformance report as technical authority

    •   Responsible for organizing and communicating their work and results in both formal and informal settings

    •   Function as individual contributor, member of cross-functional design/development team, or Project/Program Leader

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    •   Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering with 5-10 years of relevant experience

    •   Over 2,000 hours of Solid Works experience in design and drafting of electro-mechanical assemblies

    •   Experience in Avionics or Defense industry is an advantage

    •   Proven understanding of various manufacturing capabilities, machining, casting, molding, finishing, circuit card assemblies

    •   Familiarity with Avionics and Military related specifications and requirements is an advantage

    •   Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment yet capable of performing autonomously

    •   Effective written/verbal communication skills; computing skills (Windows, Microsoft Office)

    •   Must have US Person status for this position (per EAR and the ITAR)
