JOB DESCRIPTION
As a Chemical Process Engineer you will be a key contributor in trouble shooting and assisting and training plant operators in troubleshooting plant problems. You will be interacting with plant chemists to resolve product quality issues and interacting with the maintenance team to resolve equipment issues.
DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
Ø Working to improve product quality, reduce operating costs, increasing capacity, throughput, productivity and further streamlining the process.
Ø Interact with product engineers to identify projects in order to improve process operations metrics and product quality reports looking for opportunities to improve performance, product throughput and minimize waste.
Ø Participating in the plant Continuous Improvement Program, troubleshoot process problems, develop long term solutions.
Ø Responsible for process engineering such as, heat and material balances, and other technical engineering calculations.
Ø Initiating, justifying and managing small capital projects through design, purchasing, construction and start-up support including procedure writing; project manager on small to mid-sized capital projects.
Ø Being the in-house process engineering point of contact on capital projects assisting with start-up trouble shooting and commissioning.
Ø Developing and reviewing plant operating procedures.
Ø Working with HSE team to resolve safety/environmental issues and participating in site audits.
Ø Participating on the Process Hazards Committee and lead Process Hazards Reviews in compliance with OSHA PSM.
Ø Interface with operations and production supervisors to provide technical support.
Ø Engaging in extensive interaction with senior management on our site.
REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS
Ø Bachelor Degree in Chemical Engineering.
Ø 8+ years Chemical Process Engineering experience in a Chemical Plant that operates under OSHA PSM regulation Plant Process optimization, improvement and troubleshooting in a batch or continuous process operation.
Ø Strong safety attitude and solid understanding of safe work practices.
Ø Understanding and experience working in an environment with high standards for Process Safety Management (PSM).
