Thorn Creek Reformed Church (South Holland, IL) has begun a search for a pastor to lead it into a new chapter of ministry during which the congregation seeks to be a community where faith and life meet by making disciples who follow Jesus together.

The ideal candidate for this opportunity will be an experienced pastor gifted in the areas of preaching, leadership, and pastoral care. With these gifts, the ideal candidate will lead the congregation into its preferred vision for the future, communicate clearly and persuasively in a variety of settings to both individuals and groups of all sizes, lead the worship services of the congregation with love, joy and enthusiasm, coach the staff in a way that leads to harmony and effectiveness, and provide spiritual direction for Christ-followers going through major transitions in life. In addition, the ideal candidate will have a Master of Divinity degree in hand and possess the necessary qualifications to serve as an ordained pastor in the Reformed Church in America.

The historic Thorn Creek Reformed Church was established as the First Reformed Church of Roseland in 1849, relocated to South Holland in 1970, and is affiliated with the Reformed Church in America. After a recent season of self-examination, this multi-cultural and multi-generational congregation is prepared to enter a new phase of life and ministry, one where faith and life meet by making disciples who follow Jesus together. The congregation envisions becoming a passionate, magnetic, worshiping congregation, known for its excellent ministry to children and youth.

The Village of South Holland, a suburb of just under 22,000 residents, is located but twenty miles south of downtown Chicago. Founded in 1846 and incorporated as a village in 1894, South Holland has evolved from a nineteenth-century agricultural community of Dutch immigrants into a twenty-first-century commuter suburb. The community retained much of its ethnic and agricultural heritage for over one hundred years. As farmlands were converted to housing developments and industrial parks, and as the population grew larger and more diverse, South Holland has assumed a new role as a racially and ethnically diverse residential suburb.
