    OVERVIEW:

    The Charge Nurse works closely with the Director of Nursing (DON) and Leadership Team to meet facility goals and objectives; ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies, applicable laws and standards; to maintain a positive and professional approach in all communications; to provide effective supervision of nursing staff; to represent the healthcare delivery team to ensure patient safety, quality care, and safe, efficient clinical operations by supporting effective patient care delivery systems. **

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:**

    • The Charge Nurse will oversee the daily nursing staff of the facility under the direction of the DON and leadership team. The oversight will include, but is not limited to: supervision of staff, adherence to regulatory guidelines and rules; assisting in review and revision of policy and procedures; the Safety Program, and Emergency Preparation and Readiness; documentation compliance; medication management and safety; assisting in staff training, and education.

    • Demonstrates initiative and ability to respond to and provide direction to patients, physicians, staff, and visitors in a professional manner in all situations including crises and emergency situations.

    • Ensures medications are managed in a way to ensure safe storage and administration to minimize risk.

    • Ensures appropriate patient emergency readiness, to include safe staffing patterns and management of training, equipment, and supplies to support effective response.

    • Actively participates in the Quality Improvement program. Supports ongoing quality improvement and risk mitigation.

    • Assists in Risk Management activities including root cause analysis on adverse events in conjunction with the leadership team as needed.

    • Reviews, revises, and updates policies and procedures as needed with the support of the leadership team. Ensures policies match process to support compliance with appropriate regulations.

    • Promotes a culture of safety within the facility.

    • Investigates and attempts to resolve patient, visitor or employee complaints or concerns and reports to higher authority as appropriate.

    • Assists the DON with regular staff meetings to communicate information to the employees of the facility.

    • Performs other duties as needed to ensure the safety of all patients as well as the efficient operation of the facility.

    Daily staff supervisory responsibilities:

    • Assists in the employment of qualified personnel to carry out the care and objectives in the facility.
    • Assists the DON through policies that support job functions and staff responsibilities.
    • Assists staff development by facilitating educational activities including annual training.
    • Encourages all staff in monitoring and reporting adverse events.
    • Ensures medications are ordered and managed appropriately.
    • Oversees and assists with inventory management of supplies for the Preop/PACU area.
    • Provides support and direction for staff during crisis or emergency situations.
    • Provides feedback to DON on staff performance, assisting in competency review.
    • Monitors productivity and efficiency of the employees and safety of the facility overall through performance and benchmarking indicators.
    • Ensures compliance with OSHA regulations to support staff safety.

    SKILLS, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS (may include but are not limited to):

    • Current and active, unencumbered Registered Nursing License in the state of Georgia.
    • Bachelor's degree in health-related or business field.
    • Management experience in a medical environment, ASC experience preferred.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
    • Prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
    • Maintain complete and accurate facility records.
    • Communicate and understand policies accurately.
    • Support the facility operations with accountability and professional demeanor.
    • Exhibit a sound clinical knowledge base.
    • Leadership skills.
    • Understanding of compliance with regulatory guidelines.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships across the organization.
