Position Summary
The Volunteer Healthcare Clinic (VHC) is seeking a compassionate, experienced, bilingual Registered Nurse to serve as our Tuesday night Charge Nurse. This position provides clinical leadership and oversight for clinic operations, ensuring a welcoming, patient-centered experience while supporting volunteer providers and staff.
The Charge Nurse manages patient flow, coordinates care and follow-up services, oversees documentation in AthenaNet, and ensures compliance with clinic policies, safety standards and HIPAA. As the primary clinical contact during clinic sessions, the Charge Nurse plays a key role in maintaining efficient operations and high-quality care for patients.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Provide a welcoming, culturally sensitive, and patient-centered experience for all patients.
Serve as the clinical lead and primary point of contact for volunteer providers, staff, and volunteers during clinic operations.
Oversee patient flow and coordinate care from intake through check out.
Review patient charts and ensure accurate and timely documentation in AthenaNet.
Coordinate referrals, follow-up care, laboratory reviews, and appointment scheduling.
Ensure compliance with safety, infection control, and sanitization protocols.
Maintain patient confidentiality and adherence to HIPAA requirements.
Assist volunteers and providers with operational and clinical workflow needs.
Close and secure the clinic at the end of each session, ensuring all documentation and patient follow-up needs are completed.
Reports to: Clinical Operations Director, with clinical direction from the Medical Director.
