MCPA Instructor and Training Support
Job Description
Location: Ft. Leonard Wood, MO
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Facilitate the execution of the Basic Police Officer Courses (BPOC) by maintaining the curriculum, teaching the Course of Instruction (COI), identifying required and future training and development needs, developing training programs, conducting training appraisals, devising lesson plans, monitoring and reviewing the progress of students, maintaining student training records and solving specific training problems. Training materials are required to be provided prior to execution of scheduled training.
Meet and maintain the standards and certifications, inclusive of annual marksmanship qualifications and Use of Force certifications.
Demonstrate an understanding of the training requirements for all courses offered by the Academy.
Provide instruction for the following courses:
Firearms training – NRA Law Enforcement Handgun and Shotgun certified instructor or a Service approved alternative (at the discretion of the Executive Director).
NRA Patrol Rifle Instructor Course or a Service approved alternative, as required.
Defensive Tactics (as approved by the Executive Director)
Expandable Baton – ASP or Monadnock Baton Instructor (manufacturer certified)
Oleoresin Capsicum Spray - INIWIC or Service approved alternative
National Safety Council (NSC) CPR/Advanced First Aid/AED/BBP Instructor certified
TASER – INIWIC or Manufacturer certified (as approved by Executive Director)
Standard Field Sobriety Testing – certified to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration standards
Force on Force Instructor Certification
Range Safety Officer Course
Combat Life Saver or appropriate medical course for meeting range requirements. Assist Corrections in providing Marine Corps battlefield doctrine development including, but not limited to, coordination, revision, review and development of new and existing doctrine
Proof of COVID-19 vaccination (or qualified exemption for disability or religious belief, practice, or observance) *
Carry out other tasks as requested and assigned by the corporation, in time and manner. Likewise, the employee must adhere to and abide by what is established in the policies, regulations, codes, and provisions of the company. For example: To Download and install of apps needed, to take on-line training, etc.
Mobile Training Team (MTT) Support shall include the following:
MTT instruction services to conduct advanced and specialized law enforcement training.
Assist MCLEP in supporting the identified PMO/MCPD by providing the required advanced or specialized law enforcement training, identifying training and development needs, conducting training appraisals, producing training materials for advanced or specialized courses and solving specific training problems.
Conduct USMC-approved courses as directed, including but not limited to, the following:
Special Reaction Team (SRT) course
Police Commanders Course (PCC)
Police Leaders Course o Desk Sergeant/Patrol Sergeant Course
Watch Commanders Course
Standard Field Sobriety Test (SFST) Course
Radio Detection and Ranging (RADAR) Instructor o Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR) Instructor
Field Training Officer Course o Patrol Rifle
SRT II Course o SRT Commander Course
Advance Law Enforcement Marksmanship Course (ALEMC)
Instructors will wear while on duty, the designated MCPA Uniform
Travel Requirement: Three (3) Instructors may be required to travel four (4) times annually in support of MTTs.
